Essie winter 2011/2012 Bobbing for Baubles swatches & review

Today I will show you the first full swatches of Essie's Bring on the Bling collection. I would describe Bobbing for Baubles as a dark smoky teal creme. It leans towards grey, i think it is more blue than grey, I will dig up opi's suzi skies in the Pyrenees for a comparison :) the formula is flawless and this is 2 coats. There's a little dachsie here who is trying to grab my attention so I am going to take the doggies out for a walk in the sun :) Have a fabulous day!

Vandaag wil ik je de eerste full swatches uit Essie's Bring on the Bling collectie laten zien. Bobbing for Baubles zou ik omschrijven als een donkere rokerige teal. Deze cremelak neigt naar grijs maar is naar mijn mening meer blauw dan grijs, heel bijzonder. Ik zal straks Opi's suzi skies in the Pyrenees eens opzoeken voor een vergelijking. De lak is fenomenaal, dit zijn 2 laagjes. Er staat hier een klein hondje te blaffen dus ik ga maar even lekker een stukje wandelen in de zon. Fijne dag!

did you know that delivering mail can be a very dangerous profession? When I heard the van of the mailman driving into the street (yes it is that quiet here :) I ran to the door and waited for him because I was expecting a package holding the new Essie winter collection, can you imagine I almost ripped it out of his hands lol :) Seriously...I think that bloggers and online shoppers have become the new attack dogs to the mail delivery system, we know when they are coming, wait for them, keep our eyes out for them and strike when they are at our door. My dachshunds don't even have to bark when they see the red van, I am always way ahead of them ;) But back to the polishes, here are skittle swatches of the new Essie winter collection. There was supposed to be sunlight today and there is some, but there are also a lot of clouds so I am now doing the complete swatches but I have to wait for the sun to come out so this might take a while.... for now....enjoy these beauties! All swatches are 2 coats, no top or basecoat.

Wist je dat postbezorgen een gevaarlijk beroep is? Toen ik het busje van de postbode hoorde ben ik meteen naar de deur gerend, en wachtte de postbode bij de deur op. Want...ik verwachtte een pakje met de nieuwe Essie winterlakken, ik moest me beheersen om het niet uit zijn handen te rukken en weer naar binnen te hollen haha. Serieus, ik denk dat bloggers en online shoppers de nieuwe variant op de waakhond zijn die de postbode verjaagd haha. We weten wanneer ze komen, wachten ze op, houden ze goed in de gaten en als ze hier zijn slaan we toe haha. Ik heb de postbode eerder in de gaten dan mijn waakzame teckels :) Maar genoeg fantasie, hier zijn alvast snelle skittle swatches van de Essie wintercollectie. Het zonnetje moet vandaag schijnen, maar er zitten een paar wolkjes in de weg, dus ik ben nu de volledige swatches aan het maken en ik moet steeds wachten tot het zonnetje doorbreekt, dus dat kan nog wel even duren....voor nu, geniet van de skittles :) Alle swatches zijn 2 laagjes zonder base en topcoat.

And of course I had to include some clips, here's the trailer, the inspiration for the shade rainbow connection (a tribute to the puppeteer and 'father' of the Muppets, John Henson) and more muppet fun, one downside, I like the old muppet theme song better :) Are you into the Muppets???? I have seen all the movies and love them! But what do you expect of a Disney-aholic :) I jumped up and down when I heard about the movie and I did a happy dance (like monica in Friends) when I found out about the Opi collection :)

En natuurlijk was het niet compleet zonder wat filmpjes, hieronder vind je de trailer, de inspiratie voor de kleur rainbow connection (een hommage aan de bedenker van de Muppets, Jim Henson) en nog meer Muppet fun, een ding moet ik wel eerlijk zeggen.....ik vond het oude muppet liedje leuker :) Wat vind jij van de muppets? Ik heb alle films gezien en vind het geweldig! Maarja, ik ben ook een disney fanatic dus de Muppets horen daar nu ook bij :) Toen ik hoorde van de film sprong ik al op en neer op mn bureaustoel en toen ik hoorde van de OPI collectie deed ik een happy dance (Ja zo eentje a la monica uit friends ;)

How I wore it: A black asos ponti dress & make up look

I ordered this black beauty from asos.com last week and I am a curvy girl so I always have to choose my look carefully, but this design is made for me! the thing with my figure is that I have a narrow waist but round hips and full figured legs (I have a dress size 10/38 but need a jeans in size 31/32 to fit my tighs in, most skinny jeans get stuck before I get to my knees lol ). So it sounds great but when it comes to dresses it can be frustrating, most dresses are too tight around my hips and leave way too much space at my waist...not good...I also have big calves, I never fit into boots and a while ago a guy asked me if I was a road racing cyclist...So skirt length is very very important and with this dress it was just perfect. 

The neckline compensates the knee length and adds some spice to the dress. I combined the black dress with fuchsia Casadei heels (at first I did not want to wear them because they are just so pretty, but at some point I had to wear them right?) and a metallic Friiss & Company clutch. I like the bright colours with the black, this dress was 45 pounds sterling at Asos.com and is available in several shades. I just ordered the yellow one to and now I am wondering if I should get the teal one was wel.....oh dear....

Opi Holiday 2011 The Muppets release November 1st

Just a quick update, the Muppet collection will be released in the Netherlands on November 1st.
The Muppet collection for Holiday 2011 has 6 glitters and 6 shimmers, I am going to work on the images now but I was so excited that I had to share the news with you right away :) My favorites from this collection are Meep meep meep, gone gonzo and rainbow connection. Stay tuned for all the pics :) Here's a little preview ;)

Essence holografics 03 blue ray (part of 30th b-day giveaway)

Essence blue ray is a blue duochrome very pretty but I don't get the
holografics part :) the duochrome is not very strong but this is still a
lovely shade, i got myself 2 bottles so one goes to the giveaway winner:)
ps I will go to Mika for highlights in november, so I will update you
after that, untill then, I guess I will wear a hat lol :) Thanks for your
comments by the way, I an now feeling brave enough to confront the hairstylist
who didthe awful highlights, can you believe that he was nominated
for some very important hairdresser awards????

niet zo goed waarom er holografic op het flesje staat....het duochrome
effect is niet heel erg heftig maar dit is gewoon een hele mooie lak.
Ik heb er 2 van gekocht dus er gaat er eentje naar de 30th
b-day giveaway winner :) Nog even een haarupdate, ik heb in
November een afspraak bij Mika en ga ook zeker de kapper
die deze highlights gezet heeft confronteren. Dankzij jullie
commentaar durf ik dat nu, dus eh...heeeeeel erg bedankt
voor jullie eerlijkheid! Kan je geloven dat deze kapper trouwens
genomineerd was voor meedere awards??? zegt dus ook
helemaal niks....weer een illusie armer zucht....

My highlights, what do you think????

I told you I was looking for a new hairstylist (I moved to Belgium so a 100 mile drive to the hairdresser is maybe a little over the top) so after a long search I found one that I had faith in. So I made an appointment and dragged myself to the salon. I was so nervous because I am spoiled and have high expectations. I also told the hairstylist about my allergy of paint and showed the mark it left on my arm, good thing I am not allergic to hydrogen peroxyde, hope it did not scare him off....It might explain the distance between my roots and highlights even tough I assured him that I can handle blonde....

The last time my hair was done by Mika van Leeuwen (www.mikavanleeuwen.com ) he is gorgous, sweet and is extremely talented. When I left the salon after he did my highlights and a blowdry (serious red carpet locks not kidding :) it was almost like there was gold running trough my hair, delicate and subtle highlights blending in perfectly with my neglected roots. If you ever visit Amsterdam and want to go to a salon there, go to Rob Peetoom Salon in De Bijenkorf and ask for Mika or Michiel he rocks too :) So back to the topic, the picture I am showing you is from the highlights that I had done saturday....tell me honestly, what do you think???? ps you are allowed to be brutally honest ;)

In een eerdere blog schreef ik al over mijn zoektocht naar een nieuwe haarstylist (ik ben verhuisd naar Belgie dus 160 km heen en terug voor de kapper is zo decadent nietwaar?) dus na een lange zoektocht vond ik een salon waar ik wel vertrouwen in heb en maakte een afspraak. Ik was die ochtend mega nerveus want ik ben nogal verwend en had hoge verwachtingen. Ik liet meteen even mijn arm zien waar een verftestje op gedaan was (ben allergisch voor haarverf, helaas met een flinke reactie dus voorlopig blijft het bij blonderen, dat gaat gelukkig goed) Ik vrees dat mijn arm hem een beetje heeft doen schrikken want er zit wel erg veel afstand tussen mijn hoofdhuid en highlights, ondanks dat ik bleef vertellen dat blondeer geen probleem is.

De vorige keer heb ik mijn haar laten kleuren en fohnen (serieuze glamourlokken gegarandeerd) door Mika van Leeuwen (http://www.mikavanleeuwen.com/)  hij is gorgeous, lief en ontzettend getalenteerd. Toen ik de salon verliet leek het wel of hij gouddraad door mijn haar gesponnen had, zo mooi subtiel en vol klasse. Mocht je ooit zoekende zijn naar een absolute haarheld, ga naar Rob Peetoom in de Bijenkorf en vraag naar Mika, of Michiel die is ook briljant :)  Maar ik dwaal af....de foto is dus van mijn highlights van afgelopen zaterdag, zeg eens eerlijk, wat vind jij hiervan????? ps wees gerust eerlijk ;)

moeiteloze snelle laagjes snoeperig roze. Deze romige kleur
doet me denken aan milkshakes mmmmmm
Dit is volgens mij een dupe voor opi's Sparrow me the drama
maar die heb ik helaas niet dus ik kan niet vergelijken.

Mia secret pastel blue (it's actually a turqouise)
over Opi swimsuit nailed it, this one is
tricky. It absorbed the shimmers from swimsuit nailed it and
this formula is thinner than the orange, so it works better over
shades that are lighter than pastel blue itself.
